The Molière Mascaron flatware entered the collection in 1910. In the Regency style, it is decorated with a mascaron, a central element of the period in silversmithing. Placed on the spout of a coffee pot, at the foot of a vase or on the handle of a sterling silver cutlery set, this classical ornamentation is reminiscent of antique faces, sometimes childlike, often intertwined with branches and other vegetal creepers.
